3 Things I’ve Seen in Prison Recently That Should Never Happen
The longer we’re locked down, the worse things get
We have been on what this prison calls modified lockdown since January. Other than during the Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, and one other thing I can’t even remember right now, we’ve only been allowed out between one and three hours per day since January. During that time we’re expected to complete any phone calls we expect to make (more on that in a moment), shower, put in our canteen orders, and have any human contact we choose to have with other inmates as we are in a single cell environment.
We have three phones in the day room, however, one is pretty consistently broken, one is a gang phone so unless you’re a member of that particular gang you aren’t supposed to use it, then there’s the third phone for ‘civilian’ use. We are let out by floor, 22 of us at a time, for an hour. Our calls are 15 minutes. Do the math.
