If You Know It’s Against The Rules to Do Something in Prison Why Do It?

Sometimes you have to buck the system.

Demeter was going through our comments recently and it brought on a discussion about bucking the system inside. There aren’t many reasons I will intentionally do things I know could get me in trouble in here. Currently, I am at my minimum time because I was finally able to get a job (they’re not easy to come by here) however, my minimum isn’t locked in yet. So if I were to lose my job at this point in time, I would have six months added back to my release date.

I am not okay with that.

Yes, I can earn that time back off my sentence, but that’s not the point. When you can look at your release date and feel some hope, even though it’s five years away, you damn sure don’t want to see six months or even six days added to it.

Something that’s against the rules in here is accepting money from people on the outside and using it to purchase canteen for other inmates. Well, really, I think it’s just accepting money, as they think you’re going around the system because of gangs or drugs. In reality, most people do it for completely different reasons.

Why would inmates need their families to send money to others on the outside?
