My Son’s Mother Contacted Me While I Was in Prison — I Was Shocked

She’s let me and my wife talk to my son and it’s a dream come true.

The first big story I ever wrote here on Medium was about my son, before I was incarcerated. It hit in a way I never would have expected and I have my wife to thank for that in a big way, as she did a lot of the editing and what I call filling in. Same things she does now, I give her the bare bones and she fills in the blanks. The stories are mine, she’s just better at fleshing things out if that makes sense.

A lot of you began following me because of that story and stuck around for the shit show that became this prison life. Please believe when I say I am so thankful for all of you who take the time to read my musings, my struggles, our struggles, and how appreciative we both are for those of you who leave your words of kindness, respect, and sometimes share your own stories. There’s a circle of you who have begun to feel like family. There are some of you who already were. You’re all appreciated.
